AADR to Continue the Activities of the Friends of NIDCR

Alexandria, Va., USA - The American Association for Dental Research (AADR) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that AADR will continue the activities of the Friends of National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (FNIDCR) after the latter ceases operations at the end of the year. 

AADR Members Elect Maria Emanuel Ryan as Vice President

Alexandria, Va., USA - Members of the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) have elected Maria Emanuel Ryan, Stony Brook University, N.Y., to serve as the next AADR vice president. Her term will commence at the conclusion of the 45th AADR Annual Meeting in Los Angeles, Calif., March 16-19, 2016. After serving as vice president, she will remain on the AADR Board of Directors for three consecutive terms as president-elect, president and immediate past president.

IADR Members Elect Rena N. D’Souza as Vice President

Members of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) have elected Rena N. D’Souza, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, USA, as the next IADR vice president. Her term will commence at the conclusion of the 94thIADR General Session in Seoul, South Korea, June 22-25, 2016. After serving as vice president, D’Souza will stay on the IADR Board of Directors for three consecutive terms as president-elect, president and immediate past president.

Salomon Amar, D.D.S., D.M.D., Ph.D., is director, Center for Anti-inflammatory Therapeutics, Boston University, Massachusetts. There, he is also a professor in the School of Dental Medicine, Department of Molecular & Cell Biology and the Department of Periodontology. 

Amar earned a B.S. in mathematics and physics from Aquiba School, Strasbourg, France. Afterward, he went on to earn a D.D.S., a certificate in histology cytology, an M.S. in skeletal tissues and apatites, a certificate in periodontology and a Ph.D. in developmental biology from Université Louis Pasteur, France. Afterward he relocated to the U.S. and continued his education as a postdoc fellow in biochemistry-molecular biology at Northwestern University, Chicago; going on to earn a certificate in periodontology from Eastman Dental Center, Rochester, N.Y. and a D.M.D. from Boston University.
