JDR Clinical & Translational Research Wins PROSE Award for “Best New Journal in Biological and Life Sciences”

Alexandria, Va., USA – The International and American Associations for Dental Research (IADR/AADR) are pleased to announce that IADR/AADR’s newest Journal, the JDR Clinical & Translational Research (JDR CTR), won the PROSE Award for “Best New Journal in Biological and Life Sciences.”

The PROSE Awards, given annually by the Professional and Scholarly Publishing Division of the Association of American Publishers, recognize the best in professional and scholarly publishing by bringing attention to distinguished books, journals and electronic content in 58 categories.

Exploring Periodontitis in Patients With Chédiak-Higashi Syndrome

Alexandria, Va., USA – The International and American Associations for Dental Research (IADR/AADR) have published an article titled “Periodontitis in Chédiak-Higashi Syndrome: An Altered Immunoinflammatory Response” in the JDR Clinical & Translational Research (JDR CTR). In this study, Vivek Thumbigere Math, from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and authors from other institutes of NIH as well as the State University of Campinas, Piracicaba Dental School, Piracicaba, SP, Brazil sought to determine the periodontal status of patients with severe and mild forms of Chédiak-Higashi syndrome (CHS), a rare genetic disorder caused by mutations in the lysosomal trafficking regulator gene (LYST) — a gene that codes for a protein that helps with protein packaging and transport within cells.

New Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Resource Shows Promise in Reducing Children's Dental Anxiety

Alexandria, Va., USA – The International and American Associations for Dental Research (IADR/AADR) have published an article titled “Development and Testing of a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Resource for Children's Dental Anxiety” in the OnlineFirst portion of JDR Clinical & Translational Research. In this study, Jenny Porritt, Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Politics, Sheffield Hallam University, UK, et al describe the development of a guided self-help cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) resource for the management of children's dental anxiety and provide preliminary evidence for the feasibility and acceptability of this approach with children aged between nine and 16 years.

IADR/AADR Publish Inaugural Issue of JDR Clinical & Translational Research

Alexandria, Va., USA – The International and American Associations for Dental Research (IADR/AADR) have just released the inaugural issue of the JDR Clinical & Translational Research, which is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing original dental, oral and craniofacial research at the interface between discovery science and clinical application. Under the editorship of Jocelyne Feine, McGill University Faculty of Dentistry, Montréal, QC, Canada, this new publication emphasizes translation of research into healthcare delivery systems at the individual patient, clinical practice, and community levels.
