IADR Giddon Award for Distinguished Research in the Behavioral Sciences

The Executive Committee of the Behavioral, Epidemiologic and Health Services Research Group of IADR announces the Giddon Award for Distinguished Research in the Behavioral Sciences. This award recognizes a single research paper published or accepted for publication between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2013.  The paper should be in the field of behavioral science, which includes social or cultural anthropology, education, psychology, psychiatry, sociology or social work as applied to dentistry. Both applied and basic research papers are eligible. Papers in the fields of epidemiology and health services research whould be submitted for consideration for the Sheiham Award.  The Award committee will accept self-nominations or nominations by others until December 31, 2013. The paper should be accompanied by a brief letter describing why it is deemed worthy of an award. Manuscripts accepted for publication but not yet published should be accompanied by a copy of the acceptance letter from the journal editor. Nominations will be acknowledged by email or in writing. The award is made annually provided a meritorious paper is nominated. It is made possible by a contribution from Donald B. Giddon, D.M.D., Ph.D., a founder and former President of the BEHSR Group. Preferably, one of the primary authors for the manuscript selected for the award, will be present to accept the award, or someone on their behalf is expected to attend the award ceremony at the IADR General Session. The senior author will receive a cash award of $350, but all of the authors will be recognized.
