2019 Advocacy Day Communications Toolkit

Why I Advocate

Registration for the 2019 Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill is now closed. If you have any questions, please contact AADR Assistant Director of Government Affairs Lindsey Horan.

Join the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) and the Friends of National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (FNIDCR) on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 for the 2019 Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill.

Advocacy Day is the optimal time for you to communicate with federal policymakers about the important role dental, oral and craniofacial research play in our society. From contributing to the health and well-being of Americans to providing the evidence we need to reduce the economic burden of oral conditions, this research is positively shaping health and health care in this country.

We hope you will join us to share your story –personal or professional – and remind policymakers about the connection between oral and overall health as well as why research should remain a legislative priority.

To read a recap from our successful 2018 Advocacy Day, visit the AADR Government Affairs & Science Policy Blog.

The AADR and Friends of NIDCR Advocacy Day will include a morning briefing and training session, as well as an afternoon dedicated to meetings with participants’ members of Congress and Hill staff.

If you have any questions about Advocacy Day, please contact AADR Assistant Director of Government Affairs Lindsey Horan

The schedule for Advocacy Day (preliminary schedule outlined below) is designed to allow participants to fly or drive into and out of Washington, D.C. on the same day, if feasible and desired.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is the closest airport – roughly five miles – to Capitol Hill. Other options include Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). Please note, there is limited parking around Capitol Hill. More information on getting to the Capitol can be found here.

For attendees requiring an overnight stay, we recommend booking your hotel room as soon as possible for the best rates and availability. Please do not wait until the last minute, and feel free to reach out to AADR staff for hotel recommendations.
