Study Explores Sexual Harassment at AADR Conferences: First of its Kind from a Biomedical Research Membership Organization

March 3, 2020, Alexandria, Va. — The American Association for Dental Research (AADR) released findings of a new research study, “Survey of Dental Researchers’ Perceptions of Sexual Harassment at AADR Conferences: 2015-2018” in the Journal of Dental Research (JDR).

The research assessed perceptions and experiences related to sexual, gender-based and nongender-based harassment among registrants at AADR annual meetings from 2015 to 2018 (n=10,495); examined demographic factors associated with reported experiences; and identified facilitators and potential solutions concerning these types of harassment. The survey received 824 responses, or 7.85%.

IADR Announces the IADR Centennial Emerging Leaders Award Winners

Alexandria, VA, USA – 2020 marks the Centennial of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR). In celebration of this milestone, the IADR Board of Directors launched the IADR Centennial Emerging Leaders Award to recognize young investigators who will lead the research field into the next century. The award winners will be highlighted during the Opening Ceremonies and Awards Program at the 98th General Session & Exhibition of the IADR, held in conjunction with the 49th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental Research and the 44th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research, on March 18-21, in Washington, D.C., USA. 

Nicholas Jakubovics Named Journal of Dental Research Editor-in-Chief

Alexandria, VA, USA – The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) and American Association for Dental Research (AADR) are pleased to announce that Nicholas Jakubovics, Newcastle University, England, has been selected as the new Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Dental Research (JDR) starting April 1, 2020.

February 2020 – Jeffrey Ebersole

Jeffrey Ebersole is the Associate Dean for Research and a Professor of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Ebersole received his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, Pa. and did a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Immunology at The Forsyth Institute, Cambridge, Mass.

Ebersole’s research focus is on the immunobiology of oral infections, with an emphasis on in vitro and in vivo studies of host-pathogen interactions using animal and human models of oral disease(s). His CV contains over 300 publications, reviews and book chapters on the microbiology and immunology of oral diseases in the context of Periodontal disease.

Ebersole served as the 40th AADR President from 2011-12. He received the 1983 IADR Award for Basic Oral Science Research and the 2000 IADR Award for Basic Research in Periodontal Disease.
