Mark Mooney - August 2013 Tuesday, August 6, 2013 0 2444 Mark Mooney, M.S., Ph.D., is professor and chair of the Department of Oral Biology and holds joint appointments in the Departments of, Anthropology, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Orthodontics, and Communication and Speech Disorders in the Schools of Dental Medicine and Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He received his M.S. in biological psychology at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois, and his Ph.D. in physical anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh. His research interests have included craniofacial and developmental biology, and the complex genetic and environmental factors that are involved in shaping the human face and body. His principal interest has been the development of various animal models to investigate the interaction of surgery and congenital facial abnormalities on postnatal craniofacial growth in individuals with birth defects to the head and neck.
