IADR Members Elect Rena N. D’Souza as Vice President

Members of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) have elected Rena N. D’Souza, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, USA, as the next IADR vice president. Her term will commence at the conclusion of the 94thIADR General Session in Seoul, South Korea, June 22-25, 2016. After serving as vice president, D’Souza will stay on the IADR Board of Directors for three consecutive terms as president-elect, president and immediate past president. 

IADR/AADR Publish JDR Special Issue on Craniofacial Stem Cells

Alexandria, Va., USA – The International and American Associations for Dental Research (IADR/AADR) have published a Journal of Dental Research special issue on craniofacial stem cells. This special issue of the Journal of Dental Research encompasses a diverse group of articles that provide a review of important recent advances in craniofacial stem cell biology as well as examples of state-of-the-art research in the field. The issue spans multiple components of the craniofacial complex, from teeth to bones and glands, and it covers both normal development as well as disease processes. The findings from this special issue have implications in the advancement of human oral health in patients suffering from afflictions such as oral cancer, injury or congenital disorders.


IADR/AADR Publish Article on the Global Economic Impact of Dental Diseases

Alexandria, Va., USA – The International and American Associations for Dental Research (IADR/AADR) have published an article titled “Global Economic Impact of Dental Diseases” in the OnlineFirst portion of the Journal of Dental Research. In it, authors Stefan Listl, Jennifer Galloway, Peter Mossey and Wagner Marcenes estimate the direct and indirect costs of dental diseases worldwide.


Brazil’s National Oral Health Policy – An Example for Other Nations

Alexandria, Va., USA – Today, the International and American Associations for Dental Research (IADR/AADR) published a Discovery! article titled “10 Years of a National Oral Health Policy in Brazil: Innovation, Boldness and Numerous Challenges.” In it, authors Gilberto Alfredo Pucca, Jr., University of Brasília; and Mariana Gabriel, Maria Ercilia de Araujo and Fernanda Campos Sousa de Almeida, University of São Paulo, discuss Brazil’s National Policy of Oral Health, also known as “Smiling Brazil.”
