Journal of Dental Research Celebrates 100 Years in 2019

Alexandria, VA, USA – The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) and American Association for Dental Research (AADR) announce that 2019 marks the Centennial of the Journal of Dental Research (JDR). To celebrate, the JDR will feature a yearlong commemorative article series and a podcast series that highlights topics that have transformed dental, oral and craniofacial research over the past 100 years.

IADR Elects Eric C. Reynolds as IADR Vice-president

Alexandria, VA, USA – Members of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) have elected Eric C. Reynolds, The University of Melbourne, Australia, to serve as the next IADR Vice-president. His term will commence at the conclusion of the 97th General Session of the IADR, which will be held in conjunction with the 48th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) and the 43rd Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research (CADR), from June 19-22, 2019 in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

IADR joins NCD Alliance to push for better inclusion of oral diseases on global NCD agenda

Alexandria, Va., USA – The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) is pleased to announce its acceptance as a Full Member of the NCD Alliance, to better articulate the case for the inclusion of oral health in the fight against noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). IADR sought to join the NCD Alliance because oral diseases are one of the world’s most prevalent NCDs, resulting in considerable health and economic burdens to populations, and do share common risk factors (unhealthy diets high in free sugars, use of tobacco, and harmful consumption of alcohol) with the four main NCDs (cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer and diabetes). 

Bioengineered Tooth Replacement Opens Doors to New Therapies

Alexandria, Va., USA – Tooth loss is a significant health issue currently affecting millions of people worldwide. While artificial dental implants are the existing standard tooth replacement therapy, they do not exhibit many properties of natural teeth and can be associated with complications leading to implant failure. Two articles published in the September 2018 issue of the Journal of Dental Research share recent advances in bioengineering teeth.
