Information for Interactive Talk Presenters
Virtual presentations will take place on the IADR/APR General Session Virtual Experience platform. Be sure to thoroughly review the USER GUIDES related your registration type and presentation type to ensure you are fully prepared for a successful presentation.

The 2022 IADR/APR General Session & Exhibition will be a 100% virtual meeting. In order to provide the best experience for virtual attendees, all accepted abstracts will be presented in a new format called Interactive Talks.
Interactive Talk presentations provide each speaker with 6 minutes to present their slides and 2 minutes for questions and transition to the next speaker. The Interactive Talks will be organized by topic into 90-minute sessions. This revised format allows virtual presenters the opportunity to actively present their research to their peers.

General Requirements:
- All accepted presenters must pre-register and pay the applicable fee by the April 18, 2022 presenter pre-registration deadline. If you do not pre-register, you will NOT be allowed to present at the meeting and your abstract will be withdrawn from the online scientific program.
Interactive Talk presenters have the following requirements:
Prior to live presentation: All accepted and registered abstract presenters must upload a PDF preview of the presentation for the IADR Abstract Gallery by the May 25 deadline. Presenters will be given the option to upload a brief audio or video file to accompany the required PDF preview.
During the live presentation: All accepted and registered presenters must attend and present during their live session/presentation time during which presenters will share their screen as a visual aid. All session times will be in the local Chengdu, China time [China Standard Time (UTC +8)].
- Presenters are required to be in attendance for the full duration of the live session time in order to participate in the discussion period. Any additional time at the conclusion of all scheduled presentations is designated for discussion and for additional question and answer for any of the presenters
- Presenters may create as many PowerPoint slides as needed for their presentation that will fit in their 6 minute presentation time.
- Virtual presenters should be prepared to share their screen to display their full presentation materials.
- All Interactive Talk speakers are required to present live unless otherwise authorized by the IADR Global Headquarters. To request authorization for pre-recording, individual speakers must complete the required waiver request form by June 1, 2021.
Virtual presentation: All abstracts submitted will be evaluated for virtual presentation since the 2022 IADR/APR General Session will be held as a 100%virtual meeting.

General Information/Requirements for Presenters
All presentations scheduled for the 2022 IADR/APR General Session are in Chinese Standard Time (UTC +8). (Check my presentation time in my local timezone)
Note: all submission (abstracts/meeting proposals) deadlines have passed.Abstract notification emails were sent to PRESENTING AUTHORS ONLY on March 16, 2022. Overall Session date, time and mode was be included in all acceptance letters.
All presenting authors are required to complete registration for the meeting by the presenter pre-registration deadline of April 18, 2022 as outlined in the Call for Abstracts and agreed upon at the time of abstract submission.
Abstract Withdraw/Presenter Change Request & Refund Request Form – The required form to request a presenter change or withdrawal of an abstract. If you are making a presenter change request, please note that individuals may present only one abstract (excluding Symposia and Keynote Speakers); additionally, requests should be made well in advance of the presenter pre-registration deadline of April 18, 2022.
Any plans to make changes to the designated presenter must be communicated to the IADR Global Headquarters for approval at all times through the Presenter Change Request form.
Presenters should mention the sponsors of their research, if applicable in their presentation.
The presentation should cover the same material as reported in the abstract.
Presenters must be present in the session for any discussion period(s) if scheduled
IADR Policy on Full Disclosure: All presenters must abide by this policy along with the IADR Abstract Licensing Policy. All speakers of interactive talk and symposia presentations are required to include a slide listing any conflict-of-interest disclosures. If there are no conflicts of interest to report, please indicate on the PowerPoint slide.
IADR Abstract Licensing Policy: All speakers of Interactive Talk and symposia presentations are required to include a slide listing any conflict-of-interest disclosures. Poster presentations must also include a conflict-of-interest statement.

- Submission of your abstract carries with it the obligation for you to present your abstract at the live session/presentation time and in the mode indicated in your acceptance letter.
- All presenters are required to read and comply with the IADR Professional Conduct at Meetings Policy at the time of registration completion.
- All registered accepted presenters are required to pre-upload their presentations to the IADR Abstract Gallery. The deadline for pre-upload is May 25, 2022

April 18, 2022 is the deadline to withdraw an abstract without penalty. Unwarranted withdrawals after this deadline may be subject to penalty. Presenters who fail to present accepted papers may not submit papers for the next annual meeting, unless acceptable explanations are provided to the IADR Global Headquarters in writing prior to the start of the meeting. Notifying the session chair is not sufficient. Lack of institutional or grant travel funding is not an acceptable explanation. Please communicate with the IADR Headquarters regarding any changes to your participation.

Presentations will take place in the IADR/APR General Session Virtual Experience platform. This platform uses Zoom for all sessions. You will need to ensure the computer you are using to present from is up to date and should test all your equipment before the day of your presentation.

- This will launch a zoom meeting where you can practice your audio, camera, and screen sharing
- We will be using the Zoom for sessions and the same general features you see here in your free account will work with some changes noted later.

- A standalone microphone provides better quality than built-in computer mics.
- If using headphone mic, ensure it is clipped to your shirt so it does not move and bump your shirt as you move

Day of Presentation Preparations

Detailed speaker resources for accessing, navigating and participating in the hybrid AADOCR/CADR Annual Meeting platform as an attendee and speaker will be made available in advance of the Annual Meeting.

- Slides should be in 16:9 format
- Use a font size larger than 16 points.
- Use fonts with consistently thick lines.
- Members of your audience may be color blind. For graphs, avoid using red and green together. Blue/orange is a common colorblind-friendly palette. Blue/red or blue/brown can be used as a substitute.
- Use a high color contrast for text and background of slides (such as dark text on a light background).
- Additional information regarding formatting of your presentation will be available in the online pre-upload site.

- Give an opening statement to acquaint the audience with the nature and purpose of the study.
- Briefly describe procedures and materials. Define all trade names first, then use generic names throughout. All compounds and drugs must be identified.
- Allocate most of the presentation time to the results of the study. State the results simply and clearly so that significant facts can be readily identified.
- Conclude the presentation with a brief summary of the essential results you believe were demonstrated by the experimental data.
- Please be sure to be present in the session room for the discussion period(s), if scheduled.
Abstract Gallery Uploads
All accepted and registered abstract presenters are required to upload a PDF presentation preview by the May 25, 2022 deadline. Presenters will be given the option to upload a brief audio or video file to accompany the PDF preview. This should not be the full presentation slides or recording but a preview of the presentation that will be made live.

The presentation preview PDF is a brief portion of presentation slides or a unique snapshot of the research that will be included in your full presentation meant to grab the attention of attendees while they are browsing the IADR Abstract Gallery on the Virtual Experience meeting platform. Meeting attendees will be able to view the PDF and play the audio or video recording (if provided). Meeting attendees can then attend your live presentation or message you within the networking center to engage with you as a presenter.
The intention of the presentation preview is to increase the visibility of your research and entice fellow delegates to attend your live presentation time.

No, you will not have access to this upload at the time of your live presentation.

- Depending on the program you use to create your presentation preview, instructions may vary. There are 2 options when saving a presentation as a PDF.
- If you have any interactive material on the slides, such as links meeting delegates can click, be sure to do the following:
- Find the “Save As” option in the menu if it exists. In the file type dropdown, select PDF (.pdf).
- If there is no PDF options in “Save As” you may need to Export the presentation as a PDF. Find the Export option and selection the option to create an Adobe PDF.
- If you do not have links, you can also save as PDF in the following way:
- In the program, find the print function
- In the printer selection dropdown, select “Save as PDF”
*Programs vary in instructions. If using a design platform provided by your institution and the above instructions do not provide an option for creating a PDF of the presentation preview, we ask that you get instructions from your institution for that design program.

All presenters are asked to upload an audio or video file of a preview of their presentation that is 5 minutes or less. Meeting delegates will be able to play this recording when viewing your PDF preview in the Gallery to learn more. This recording is an opportunity to reach more delegates and make more connections.

- If you would like to record a video for upload, we ask that you follow the IADR recording tips.
- Meeting delegates will be able to view your slides at the same time as listening to your recording.
- IADR recommends testing your audio and video with a short recording before recording your entire presentation. Record a short clip, then play back to check for audio and video quality. Once you complete your full recording, play back the full presentation to ensure the quality is how you want before uploading to IADR.
- Video format must be .mp4 to upload
- If you record with a phone or tablet, you will want to send to your computer to upload to IADR.
- The simplest method of recording is using the native video applications on your computer.
- Windows: Use the “Camera” app.
- Mac: Use ”Photo Booth” app.

- If you prefer audio only, you can record the file using your computer or phone and upload as an .mp3 or .m4a file.
- Depending on the device you are using, you can use any of the following for your recording or use another program you are comfortable
- Windows or Android Phone:
- Voice Recorder is a native app on windows devices. Open the start menu and search for “Voice Recorder”
- Open the app and when ready click the blue mic button to begin recording.
- After you have completed your recording, you can trim the start or end if necessary and save, then open the file location to locate the file to upload.
- If using an android device, you will want to send the file to your computer for upload to the IADR system.
- Mac or iOS
- Open the Voice Memos application on your mac computer or apple device.
- Start the recording using the red record button and click done when you are finished.
- After the recording is complete, you can use the edit tools to trim the start and finish of the recording and save
- If using an iPhone or iPad, you will want to send the file to your computer to upload to the IADR system.
- Windows or Android Phone:

The IADR has continued to evolve to meet the unique challenges presented by COVID-19 for the health and safety of our members, attendees, sponsors, and exhibitors. To provide the best experience for attendees, all accepted abstracts will be presented in a new format called Interactive Talks. The IADR is committed to putting science first, and the new Interactive Talk presentation method will allow more colleagues the opportunity to actively present their science and interact with attendees during the sessions. IADR is initially trying this new format for one year and will seek feedback after the 2022 General Session. Your feedback will help inform future meeting planning.
This will also allow for IADR Scientific Group/Network Group Program Chairs to build more cohesive sessions from the abstracts submitted.

Yes, all accepted and presented Interactive Talk abstracts will become archived and citable as part of a special issue of the Journal of Dental Research, the journal for dental, oral, and craniofacial research. The Journal of Dental Research follows the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors recommendations regarding the conduct, reporting, editing, and publication of scholarly works and these recommendations are applied to meeting abstracts to the extend practical and possible.x

Your feedback will help inform future meeting planning to embrace our new hybrid meeting model.

Keynote addresses will continue to be scheduled at the beginning of the Interactive Talk session. The timing will remain 30 minutes for these speakers.
