IADR Webinar Library

What does a woman's mouth reveal about her hormones and her health? This webinar brings together four leading researchers to explore how oral health changes across the female lifespan: from fertility and pregnancy to menopause and beyond. Moving through key biological milestones, the panel examines how hormonal shifts shape the oral microbiome and immune response, how saliva and gum fluid can predict serious pregnancy complications, and how menopause and autoimmune conditions reshape oral tissues.

The session closes with a global lens on how chronic infections and early-life exposures drive oral health disparities in women worldwide. Open to clinicians, researchers, and students across all dental specialties.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe how hormonal transitions across the female lifespan reshape oral tissues, immunity, and the microbiome.
  • Evaluate salivary and crevicular biomarkers for predicting reproductive and systemic outcomes in women.
  • Recognize how population diversity, chronic infection, and socioeconomic determinants drive oral health disparities in women globally.
