Advocacy Updates

The Gert Quigley Government Affairs Fellowship is designed to familiarize graduate-level students with the federal legislative process in the context of dental, oral, and craniofacial research and the oral health care delivery system. Through this fellowship, which includes a paid eight-week fellowship in Washington, D.C., students have an opportunity to advance federal research priorities and gain a new perspective on the federal policymaking process.
Members of AADOCR’s Government Affairs Committee traveled to Washington, D.C. in late September to meet with the offices of key federal legislators on Capitol Hill, including the Senate Majority Leader, the Chair of the Regional Leadership Council (RLC), the Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, the Chair of the House Labor, Health, and Human Services (Labor-HHS) Appropriations Subcommittee, and the Oral Health Caucus Co-Chair.

The advocates called on Congress to invest in vital scientific and medical research at the NIH and NIDCR, and to support the Comprehensive Dental Reform Act of 2024.
