Alexandria, VA, USA – The International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) has announced Rania Al-Tuama, IADR Iraqi Division, as the 2026 recipient of the IADR David B. Scott Fellowship. Al-Tuama, from Mustansiriyah University, was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 104th General Session of the IADR, which was held in conjunction with the 55th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research and the 50th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research on March 25-28, 2026 in San Diego, CA, USA.

Al-Tuama is a dental graduate from the College of Dentistry at Al-Mustansiriyah University and is currently completing her internship training. Her academic interests focus on orthodontics, periodontics, and the application of artificial intelligence in dental education and clinical practice. During her undergraduate study, she participated in academic and educational activities through a medical educational platform, contributing to student training and academic coordination. She has also been involved in research and student scientific activities related to dental education.

In addition to her academic role, Al-Tuama has participated in professional and community activities through dental student organizations, conference organization, and oral health awareness initiatives. Her future goal is to pursue postgraduate studies in periodontics or orthodontics and to continue developing her academic and research skills within evidence-based dentistry.

The David B. Scott Fellowship is traditionally awarded annually to one dental student in one IADR Division and will rotate among the Divisions. It is the Division's responsibility to select the recipient by any method it devises, but the Division must present the candidate's name and the proposal for his or her research experience to the IADR Board for approval. The David B. Scott Fellowship is currently funded at $2,500.
