Description:
Oral cancer is not only one of the most lethal types of cancer, but it is also devastating for the life of survivors due to the deformities it causes to their faces. This disease can be easily managed with minimal consequences if diagnosed earlier. However, there is a global shortage of experts with the knowledge needed to detect the disease, specially in developing countries. Here, we discuss the creation of an artificial intelligence smartphone app designed to detect oral cancer at early stages. In order to make sure the AI will be able to operate globally, we have built a global consortium with experts from around the world in order to create and validate this app.
Learning Objectives:
- Learning about generalizability of AI.
- Learning about the use AI models for oral medicine.
