Caojie Liu Named Recipient of the First IADR Newell W. Johnson Travel Award

Alexandria, VA, USA, June 22, 2022 – The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) announced that Caojie Liu, Sichuan University, Chengdu, China, is the recipient of the first IADR Newell W. Johnson Travel Award. Liu was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the virtual 100th General Session & Exhibition of the IADR, held in conjunction with the 5th Meeting of the Asia Pacific Region on June 20-25, 2022.

Liu’s Abstract is titled CHD7 Regulates BMSC Cell Fate via Suppressing PPAR-γ Signaling Pathway and will be presented in the Interactive Talk session, Stem Cells and Morphogenesis on June 23, 2022 at 8 a.m. CST.  

The Newell W. Johnson Travel Award is named for longtime IADR member, Prof. Newell W. Johnson, Griffith University, Queensland, Australia. Prof. Johnson received the 2019 IADR Distinguished Scientist Award for Global Oral Health Research and made a very generous donation to start the IADR Newell W. Johnson Travel Award Endowment. The funding goal for the award endowment was reached with additional donations from IADR members and Prof. Johnson.

The Newell W. Johnson Travel Award will assist new investigators residing in low-and middle-income countries to attend the IADR General Session & Exhibition. This travel award is designed to encourage new investigators to undertake research and to support their attendance at the IADR General Session & Exhibition for presentation of research in any of the IADR Scientific Group and Network research areas. The IADR uses the annual World Bank classification of countries by income to determine which countries are low- and middle-income.
