Alexandria, VA, USA – The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) announced that Chengfei Zhang is this year’s recipient of the IADR Distinguished Scientist Pulp Biology & Regeneration Award. Zhang, from the University of Hong Kong, SAR, China, was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 101st General Session of the IADR, which was held in conjunction with the 9th Meeting of the Latin American Region and the 12th World Congress on Preventive Dentistry, that took place on June 21, 2023, in Bogotá, Colombia.
Zhang is currently a Clinical Professor in Endodontics and the Associate Dean for Research and Innovation in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Hong Kong. He started his professional education in China where he obtained his DDS and PhD from the Peking Medical University School of Stomatology, where he trained in operative dentistry and endodontics. He then moved to Japan where he trained in conservative dentistry at the Showa University School of Dentistry, and later received training in endodontic and conservative dentistry at Hong Kong University, SAR, China.
Zhang is a well-recognized expert in the field and has presented various papers in pulp biology and regeneration at IADR and other scientific meetings. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed publications on this topic.
Supported by Dentsply Sirona, the IADR Pulp Biology and Regeneration Award recognizes, encourages, and stimulates outstanding research contributions in the field of pulp biology. As one of the 17 IADR Distinguished Scientist Awards, this award is one of the highest honors bestowed by IADR.
