Francisco Ramos-Gomez Named Recipient of the 2025 IADR E.W. Borrow Memorial Award

Alexandria, VA, USA – The International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) has announced Francisco Ramos-Gomez as the 2025 recipient of the IADR E.W. Borrow Memorial Award. Ramos-Gomez, from the University of California, Los Angeles, USA, was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 103rd General Session of the IADR, which was held in conjunction with the IADR/Pan European Regional Congress on June 25-28, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

Ramos-Gomez's career has focused on oral health promotion for children, with a priority for caries prevention where fluoride in different formats is utilized. Ramos-Gomez has been a champion for improving the oral health of children, especially those from under-resourced communities, and conducting prevention-oriented research that includes different forms of fluoride.

Ramos-Gomez has conducted several NIH/NIDCR funded clinical trials that involve caries prevention and the use of fluoride varnish, fluoride toothpaste, and fluoridated tap water. He has been funded by NIH/NIDCR for more than two decades for his community-based intervention clinical trials. He has dedicated his career to improving the oral health of children, especially those most in need, both through his active research portfolio and his academic endeavors that train future generations of oral health providers.

Sponsored by The Borrow Foundation, the IADR E.W. Borrow Memorial Award recognizes and stimulates research in oral health prevention for children, with a priority for caries prevention where fluoride in different formats is utilized. This is the 33rd year of the IADR E.W. Borrow Memorial Award, which consists of a plaque and a monetary award of $3,500.
