IADR Board Approves Distinguished Lecture Series Speaker Fund in Honor of CEO Christopher H. Fox

Published on: August 21, 2026

Alexandria, VA, USA – The International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) Board of Directors has approved the creation of the IADR CEO Distinguished Lecture Series Speaker Fund, established in honor of CEO Christopher H. Fox, DMD, DMSc.

When endowed, the fund will provide long-term support for speakers invited to participate in the IADR Distinguished Lecture Series (DLS) at the IADR General Session. Funding will help cover expenses associated with bringing distinguished researchers and leaders to the General Session, including travel, accommodations, ground transportation, meals, and honoraria.

The fund was initiated with a $10,000 gift from David Johnsen, Professor and former Dean of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. IADR President-elect Raul Garcia has also generously contributed $10,000. Together with additional contributions, the fund currently totals $27,200 towards the initial $125,000 goal.

Dr. Fox expressed his desire to establish a fund that would ensure continued support for Distinguished Lecture Series speakers at the IADR General Session. Once endowed, the fund will provide a sustainable source of funding as it grows, with additional support for DLS speakers made possible through future contributions. The estimated annual cost of supporting one DLS speaker is approximately $5,000, although actual costs vary from year to year.

“Dr. Fox has quietly been the glue bringing scientists together with symbiotic effect in meetings, journals, communications, awards, and in the political arena,” said Johnsen. “We now have a chance to create an indelible and indefinite program to honor [him].” Listen to Johnsen’s full remarks  here.

The Distinguished Lecture Series is a signature component of the IADR General Session, bringing leading scientists and experts to the global research community to share insights on emerging discoveries, challenges, and opportunities across dental, oral, and craniofacial research.

IADR welcomes additional contributions to the fund from members, supporters, and friends of the Association who wish to ensure the continued success of the Distinguished Lecture Series for generations of researchers to come.
