Alexandria, Va., USA, May 6, 2020 – The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) announced Kasia Gurzawska-Comis, University of Birmingham, England, as the first recipient of the IADR Osteology Foundation New Investigator Award in Oral Tissue Regeneration.
Gurzawska-Comis is currently an Academic Clinical Lecturer in Oral Surgery. She started her specialty training in Oral Surgery at the Birmingham Dental Hospital in April 2015 and has a special interest in implantology and bone regeneration, a discipline concerned with bone pathology.
Apart from her clinical work, she undertakes research in the fields of nanotechnology, osseointegration in oral implantology and bone tissue engineering, focusing on the causes and possible new treatments of bone pathology.
She also takes part in teaching BDS students in clinical Oral Surgery and Biomaterials in development and methodology in oral implantology.
The IADR Osteology Foundation New Investigator Award in Oral Tissue Regeneration is jointly sponsored by the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) and the Osteology Foundation, with funding provided exclusively by the Osteology Foundation.
Funding research into all aspects of oral tissue regeneration is a core task of the Osteology Foundation.
Gurzawska-Comis will receive up to $75,000.
Due to the cancellation of the 2020 IADR/AADR/CADR General Session, the award was given locally.
