Jamie Cury Named 2020 Recipient of the IADR E.W. Borrow Memorial Award

Alexandria, Va., USA, May 6, 2020 – The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) announced Jamie Cury, Piracicaba Dental School, UNICAMP, Sao Paulo, Brazil as 2020 recipient of the IADR E.W. Borrow Memorial Award.

Cury is Professor and Chair of Biochemistry and Cariology in the UNICAMP Dental School at Piracicaba, Brazil where he has been faculty since 1974. Cury graduated from the UNICAMP Dental School before obtaining a MA from the Federal University of Parana, Curitiba, Brazil and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Cury has published over 26 book chapters and 326 peer-reviewed publications just on various aspects of cariology research, in particular fluoride mechanisms on caries. He is one of the most recognized names for over 30 years on the effects of fluoride in oral health.

Sponsored by The Borrow Foundation, the IADR E.W. Borrow Memorial Award recognizes and stimulates research in oral health prevention for children, with a priority for caries prevention where fluoride in different formats is utilized. This is the 29th year of the IADR E.W. Borrow Memorial Award, which consists of a plaque and a monetary award of $3,500 USD.

Due to the cancellation of the 2020 IADR/AADR/CADR General Session, the award was given locally.
