Alexandria, Va., USA, May 6, 2020 – The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) announced Kristiina Heikinheimo, University of Turku, Finland, as the 2020 recipient of the Distinguished Scientist Award in Oral Medicine & Pathology Research.
Heikinheimo is Associate Professor at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Institute of Dentistry, University of Turku, Finland and Visiting Professor at the Division of Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences, King’s College London Dental Institute. She held editorial board memberships in the Journal of Dental Research and WHO Classification of Head and Neck Tumors. Her main research focus is on molecular pathology of odontogenic tumors and their future individualized molecular treatment options.
One of the 17 IADR Distinguished Scientist Awards, the Oral Medicine & Pathology Research Award is one of the highest honors bestowed by IADR. The Award recognizes outstanding and sustained peer-reviewed research that has contributed to the understanding of the mechanisms governing the health and disease of the oral cavity and associated structures, principally encompassing skin, bone and the oral soft tissue. The award consists of a monetary award and a plaque.
Due to the cancellation of the 2020 IADR/AADR/CADR General Session, the award was given locally.
