Ove A. Peters Named Recipient of the 2025 IADR Distinguished Scientist Award in Pulp Biology & Regeneration

Alexandria, VA, USA – The International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) has announced Ove A. Peters as the 2025 recipient of the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award in Pulp Biology & Regeneration. Peters, from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 103rd General Session of the IADR, which was held in conjunction with the IADR/Pan European Regional Congress on June 25-28, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

Peters has held faculty positions in Heidelburg, Germany and Zurich, Switzerland, as well as at the University of California, San Francisco. He was the founding director of the postgraduate endodontic program at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, and served as a professor with tenure and the Chair of the Department of Endodontics at that school. He has extensive clinical and research expertise in instrument development, antimicrobial regimes, and stem cell biology.

Peters has published more than 200 manuscripts related to endodontic technology and biology. He has authored books and contributed to leading textbooks in dentistry. He is Associate Editor for the International Endodontic Journal as well as the Australian Endodontic Journal, an academic editor for PLOS One and serves on the review panel of multiple other journals. Among other awards, Peters has received the Hans Genet Award of the European Society of Endodontology and, more recently, the Louis I. Grossman Award of the American Association of Endodontists.

Supported by Dentsply Sirona, the IADR Pulp Biology and Regeneration Award recognizes, encourages, and stimulates outstanding research contributions in the field of pulp biology. As one of the 17 IADR Distinguished Scientist Awards, this award is one of the highest honors bestowed by IADR.
