Alexandria, VA, USA, June 22, 2022 – The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) announced that Richard John Miron, University of Bern, Switzerland is the recipient of the IADR Young Investigator Award. Miron was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the virtual 100th General Session & Exhibition of the IADR, held in conjunction with the 5th Meeting of the Asia Pacific Region on June 20-25, 2022.
Miron is Lead Educator/Researcher at the Advanced Platelet Rich Fibrin Education Institute, and Research Associate at the University of Bern, Switzerland. He started his studies in Western Ontario, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in medical sciences and later completed a master’s degree in Cell Biology. He went on to pursue a PhD in Periodontology and Cell Biology at the University of Bern, Switzerland and a Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) from the University of Laval, Quebec, Canada. He also completed an implant fellowship at SUNY Stony Brook.
Miron’s research interest is in the field of periodontal and bone regeneration. He has presented his work at IADR and other scientific meetings, and published more than 150 peer reviewed publications, five textbooks, 40 review articles and book chapters, and many additional abstracts from scientific presentations.
He is a regular speaker at national and international conferences, and an editorial board member and reviewer for numerous journals in Dentistry and Biomaterials.
Miron has received numerous research awards including the IADR Young Investigator of the Year, Implant Research Group in 2015, and Periodontology in 2020, the International Team for Implantology (ITI) Andre Schroeder Research Prize in 2016, the IADR Continental European Division Robert Frank Award for Basic Research in 2015, and many others.
Supported by P&G Professional Oral Health, Crest Oral-B, this award is designed to stimulate basic research in all dental research disciplines. This award consists of a monetary prize and a plaque. The nominee must be within 10 years of completing their last terminal degree (PhD, DDS, DMD, MD, etc.) at the time of the submission deadline. This award is one of the 17 IADR Distinguished Scientist Awards.
