Alexandria, VA, USA – The International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) has announced Sarah Baker as the 2025 recipient of the IADR Distinguished Scientist H. Trendley Dean Memorial Award. Baker, from the University of Lincoln, England, UK, was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 103rd General Session of the IADR, which was held in conjunction with the IADR/Pan European Regional Congress on June 25-28, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.
With 150 peer-reviewed publications, Baker’s research contributions have covered a wide range of areas including the application and development of person-reported outcome measures, oral health quality of life, and understanding the social, biobehavioral and psychological pathways linking oral conditions to health outcomes and well-being. She was awarded the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award in Behavioral, Epidemiological, and Health Services Research in 2018.
Baker currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology. She was President of the IADR Behaviorali, Epidemiologic and Health Services Research Group in 2013-14, and a member of the IADR Executive Committee member from 2010-19. She is committed to the professional development of early-career researchers and clinicians and has supervised over 70 postgraduate students in both Dentistry and Psychology.
The IADR Distinguished Scientist H. Trendley Dean Memorial Award, one of the 17 IADR Distinguished Scientist Awards, is supported by the Colgate-Palmolive Company in memory of H. Trendley Dean, the 21st President of the IADR and first dental officer of the National Institutes of Health. The award consists of a monetary award and plaque and is given for meritorious research in epidemiology and public health. It is one of the highest honors bestowed by IADR.
