Yunfeng Lin Named Recipient of the 2023 IADR Distinguished Scientist Isaac Schour Memorial Award

Alexandria, VA, USA – The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) announced that Yunfeng Lin is this year’s recipient of the IADR Distinguished Scientist Isaac Schour Memorial Award. Lin, from Sichuan University, Chengdu, China, was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 101st General Session of the IADR, which was held in conjunction with the 9th Meeting of the Latin American Region and the 12th World Congress on Preventive Dentistry, that took place on June 21, 2023, in Bogotá, Colombia.

Lin is Vice Dean of the West China College of Stomatology and Vice Director of State Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases at Sichuan University, where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in 2001 and a master’s degree on the topic of adipose stem cells and tissue regeneration in 2003. His research was furthered at Sichuan University where he completed his PhD on the effect of adipose stem cells and biomaterials in tissue regeneration in 2006. He has also worked as an instructor at Mass General Hospital, Harvard University in 2009-2010.

Lin has published more than 187 peer-reviewed publications as corresponding author or first author in Nature Protocols, Advanced Materials, and Journal of Dental Research. His papers have been cited more than 8,700 times. He has been well funded for his research with over 20 grants totaling more than 20 million RMB. He is a Yangtze River Scholar Distinguished Professor, a Young Scientific and Technological Innovation Leader of China, a winner of the Chinese Youth Science and Technology Award and the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award and was included in the New Century Excellent Talents of the Chinese Ministry of Education.

Funded through a generous endowment provided by Bernard G. Sarnat, a former graduate student of Isaac Schour, and Rhoda G. Sarnat through the Sarnat Family Foundation, the Isaac Schour Memorial Award consists of a monetary prize and plaque and recognizes outstanding scientific contributions in the anatomical sciences, including tissue engineering, tissue regeneration and stem cell research as it relates to the oral, dental, or craniofacial complex. It is one of the 17 IADR Distinguished Scientist Awards and is one of the highest honors bestowed by IADR.
