Prof. Dr. Cristiane Mengatto is a tenured full professor of Prosthodontics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil. She has served as both Dentistry Program Director and Health Sciences Program Director for four years. With 24 years of clinical practice and over 17 years dedicated to teaching and research, she specializes in aesthetic and functional rehabilitation, holding certifications in Prosthodontics and Orofacial Harmonization. Prof. Mengatto earned her Master and PhD in Clinical Dentistry from FOP-UNICAMP, Brazil’s leading dental school. Her research uniquely integrates biotechnology and cell culture techniques, focusing on prosthetic rehabilitation and mastication in older adults, as well as antimicrobial strategies for dentures. As a research fellow at UCLA under Dr. Ichiro Nishimura, she received the first-place Arthur Frechette Prosthodontics IADR Award in 2009. An active member of the International Association for Dental and Craniofacial Research (IADR) since 2004, she has contributed significantly to the Prosthodontics and Gerontology groups. Her leadership roles include session chair, abstract reviewer, member of the Innovation in Oral Care Awards Committee (2021-2023), IADR Councilor representing the Prosthodontics Group (2023-2024), and Scientific Proposal Coordinator and Program Chair for the Prosthodontics Research Group (2026-2027).
