What is an Ask Me Anything (AMA) event? A live, text-based, one-hour virtual event where IADR Community members can interact through online discussion with an expert in dental, oral and craniofacial research.

Expert: Dr. Flavio Demarco is an Oral Epidemiologist and has been a Professor at the Federal University of Pelotas, Brazil
Introduction:
Dr. Flavio Demarco is an Oral Epidemiologist and has been a Professor at the Federal University of Pelotas, Brazil, since 1992. He is also a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Dentistry, Radboud University Medical Center. From 2017 to 2025, he served as Vice-Dean for Research and Graduate Programs at the Federal University of Pelotas and, in 2023, was Coordinator of the Brazilian Forum of Vice-Deans for Research and Graduate Programs. He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Michigan from 2006 to 2008 and is an accredited researcher for the Brazilian Government Agency (CNPq).
Dr. Demarco is a member of the Brazilian Division of IADR and part of the Behavioral, Epidemiologic and Health Services Research Group (BEHSR). He currently works in the Graduate Programs of Epidemiology and Dentistry at the Federal University of Pelotas. His research interests focus on the impact of various exposures throughout the life course on oral health outcomes, as well as the relationship between oral health and general health at different life stages. He coordinates the oral health component of the Pelotas Birth Cohort studies.
