IADR AAPD Research Award

The Pediatric Oral Health Research Group of IADR has established the above Award for the purpose of promoting the interest of pediatric dentists, clinicians, and academicians in research focused on the oral health of children and adolescents, and to acknowledge excellence of the research conducted by these individuals. Applicants who apply to this award are not eligible for the other four IADR POHR Awards.

Eligibility
  • Must be an IADR Member
  • Must be an Pediatric Oral Health Member
  • Must be a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
  • Applicants who apply to this award are not eligible for the other four IADR POHR Awards.

The Award will be given on the basis of general excellence in research related to pediatric oral health as demonstrated by the abstract and in person oral or poster presentation.

The President of the POHR Group will convene a judging panel comprising the current Executive Committee of the Pediatric Oral Health Research Group. This panel will evaluate abstracts and select finalists.
The second round of the competition will consist of in person judging of the oral or poster presentation at the IADR General Session & Exhibition. The judging will take place at the time the finalist is assigned to present. Finalists will be judged for the quality of the presentation and responses to questions. The winner(s) will be announced in the Pediatric Oral Health Research Group business meeting or soon after the completion of the General Session.

In case of a tie in votes between two or more finalists, the President will convene a second judging panel comprising former members of the Executive Committee of the Pediatric Oral Health Research Group and continue to do so until one candidate has the majority of votes.

Each applicant must be the primary author and be the presenter of an abstract accepted for presentation at the IADR General Session. The applicant must pre-register for the meeting.

Research submitted for presentation in the General Session & Exhibition of the IADR will be eligible for consideration for the IADR American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) Research Award, provided it has not been published. When submitting the abstract, it must be assigned to the Pediatric Oral Health Research Group and as the IADR American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) Research Award category selected The deadline for receipt of applications coincides with the IADR abstract submission deadline for the IADR General Session & Exhibition

 

Awardee Responsibilities:
To attend (1) the IADR meeting in the year in which the Award is made and, (2) the Pediatric Oral Health Research Group annual business meeting
