The Oral Medicine and Pathology Group of the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) is pleased to announce the establishment of an annual travel award for a new investigator to attend the IADR General Session & Exhibition and present an accepted abstract related to Oral Medicine and Pathology.

The Travel Award will assist new investigators (students, trainees, postdoctoral or junior faculty) residing in low- and middle-income countries to attend the IADR General Session & Exhibition.

- The Travel Award will assist new investigators (students, trainees, postdoctoral or junior faculty) residing in low- and middle-income countries to attend the IADR General Session & Exhibition. The IADR uses the annual World Bank classification of countries by income to determine which countries are low- and middle-income.
- This travel award is designed to encourage new investigators to undertake research and to support their attendance at the IADR General Session & Exhibition for presentation of their research in the Oral Medicine and Pathology IADR Scientific Research Group category.
- Applicants must submit an abstract for presentation at an IADR scientific meeting, selecting “oral presentation” as the preferred format, identifying Oral Medicine and Pathology Scientific Group as the scientific group to which the abstract should be submitted for review
- Applicants must be the presenting author.
- The recipient of the award should be a current member of the IADR and Oral Medicine and Pathology Scientific Group at the time of application.
- The applicant must select the Oral Medicine and Pathology (OMP) as that group to which the abstract should be submitted for review, and select the award from the list of IADR Scientific Group Awards demonstrating that they wish to be considered for the award.
- One award will be granted each year and the recipient will receive $1,000 USD for expenses to attend the IADR General Session & Exhibition. The first award will be given in 2023.
- We hope this modest award will encourage young researchers to attend and present their work at the IADR General Session. The awards will be formally acknowledged at the Group business meeting.
- A subcommittee of the OMP Scientific Group that reviews the group’s abstracts will review abstracts with the young investigator identified as the presenter on the abstract form.
- Each submission will be evaluated based on scientific rigor, relevance, and potential impact.
- Abstracts will be scored and ranked independently by each of the reviewers.
- A call for applications for the award will be issued by the IADR at the time all abstract-based awards are announced each year ahead of the General Session.
